Owls in the night
Owls. Owls in the Wizard of Oz. No, I'm not shitting you.
Sheila Sorokoff was a second grade teacher. She also had aspirations of directing a Broadway musical. As a compromise, she bitterly directed 22 second-graders in a musical version of the Wizard of Oz.
I was a bunny, along with Lisa Stornaiuolo and Peter Fitzgerald. We had black spots made out of construction paper where our tails should have been, because the Wicked Witch of the West had taken them. We sang of our loss to the tune of All That Jazz.
We were scared,
We were so unprepared
(180 degree jump to face away from audience)
(shake rump in time to the music)
(180 degree jump to face audience)
She took our tails!
I don't recall what the Witch had done to the owls to demonstrate her Wickedness. I do recall that the owls' song was sung to the tune of Strangers in the Night.
