I was going to post later, but ...
I'm a believer in punctuality. Someone tells me to be somewhere at a certain time, I get upset if I'm more than three minutes late. I like to take people at their word, even when that causes them embarassment.
A little research beforehand, and you can nail those ETAs. My best was, as I recall, September 26, 1987. I was driving from Champaign, Illinois to attend a party at a place I'd never been in Sterling, Virginia, some 700 miles east of me, and told to come at 7:30. I think I was off by seven minutes.
